Jakarta – Jakarta Cathedral donated a cow to the Istiqlal Mosque on Eid al-Adha 2024 as a form of tolerance and concern.

"This year, the Cathedral church donates a cow in the spirit of brotherhood during the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri," said Ismail Cawidu, Head of the Riyah Division of the Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency (BPMI) and Spokesperson for the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to Cawidu, the cow isn't a sacrificial animal but a gift, "The term is that this is a gift or donation of a cow from the Cathedral Church," he remarked.

Additionally, the Cathedral Church also provides parking for vehicles of pilgrims who will perform Eid al-Adha prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque.

This has become a routine activity during religious events at the two places of worship.

"The Cathedral parking lot is opened for Eid al-Adha congregants, and this has been going on for a long time. Conversely, when it's Christmas, the Istiqlal parking lot is also opened for Cathedral congregants," he informed.

For the Eid al-Adha Prayer, H Martomo Malaing was appointed as the imam and Professor Dr. Amien Suyitno as the khatib. The Vice President is also scheduled to perform the Eid al-Adha Prayer at the Istiqlal Mosque.
