WhatsApp Status to Get New Update for Android Soon
- NewsBeezer
Jakarta – Back in 2017 WhatsApp unveiled the Status feature, which allowed users to post text, emojis, photos and more that would be visible to their contacts for 24 hours.
But not necessarily all contacts – the Status Privacy setting allowed users to pick between status updates being visible to all contacts, only select contacts or everyone but select contacts.
Last month, WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.75 added a little popup that allowed you to easily change the Status Update Privacy setting before posting a new update.
This brings us to today and WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.27, which is rolling out with the same feature, as quoted from GSM Arena site.
With this pop-up, users can easily review and modify who can see their status updates without having to go into the settings menu first.
This not only speeds up the process but also helps users be more aware of their privacy.
How the New Feature Works
When users want to post a new status, they will see a pop-up that allows them to choose the privacy settings for that update.
The available options include: all contacts, where the status update will be visible to everyone in the contact list; only specific contacts, which allows users to select certain contacts who can see the status; and everyone except specific contacts, which lets users exclude certain contacts from seeing the status.
This pop-up ensures that users are always reminded of their privacy settings before posting, so they don't have to worry about their status being seen by unwanted people.
This new feature was first introduced on WhatsApp beta for iOS and is now starting to roll out for WhatsApp beta on Android.
Users who are part of the beta channel may already see this feature, or it may be rolled out to more testers in the coming days.
