Jakarta, April 10th 2024 – As part of its ongoing commitment to education, MMS Group Indonesia (MMSGI) is continuing its sponsorship of the 2024 CS50x Indonesia-Harvard University Microcredential Program.
The program, organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (MoECRT), aims to equip teachers with the necessary digital literacy skills to thrive in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Recognizing the rapid advancements in technology and the increasing role of AI in various sectors, MMSGI understands the importance of upskilling teachers to effectively integrate technology into their teaching and learning processes.
The CS50x program provides a comprehensive curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, including web development, programming, and cybersecurity.
This year, the CS50x program has seen a significant increase in participation, with the number of teachers enrolling in the program rising from 150 in 2023 to 273 in 2024. This growth reflects the growing interest among teachers in enhancing their digital skills and staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
The 22-week online program culminates in a 5-day on-site session held at the Jakarta Intercultural School, led by renowned computer science expert Professor David J. Malan, Gordon McKay Professor in Practice of Computer Science at Harvard University.
Professor Malan's expertise and insights provide invaluable guidance to the participating teachers, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the program's concepts and apply them effectively in their classrooms.
The CS50x program aligns with the Merdeka Belajar movement, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education to promote greater autonomy and flexibility in Indonesian education.
The program empowers teachers to explore innovative teaching methods and incorporate technology into their lessons, ultimately enhancing the quality of education for students across the country.
During the opening seminar titled "Digital Skills for Teachers" held at Graha Ristekdikti Building D, MoECRT office, Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim emphasized the importance of the CS50x program in strengthening teacher competencies.
“By participating in this program, I hope teachers will gain relevant knowledge that keeps pace with current developments, equipping them to improve the quality of education,” stated Makarim, quoted by VIVA Engish.
The CS50x program stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the government, private sector, and academia in addressing the need for enhanced digital literacy skills among teachers.
