Minister Guarantees Sacrificial Animals Supply Safe and Surplus

Jakarta – The Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, has guaranteed that the availability of sacrificial animals is secure and sufficient ahead of Eid al-Adha this year.
The availability of sacrificial animals is projected to have a surplus of up to 88,000.
According to data from the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH), the national demand for sacrificial animals is at 1.97 million, with availability reaching 2.06 million.
“Therefore, the availability of sacrificial animals this year is projected to have a surplus of up to 88,000,” Minister Sulaiman said in a statement on Thursday (June 6).
With this, Minister Sulaiman assured that the number of sacrificial animals, including cattle, buffalo, goats, and sheep, to meet national demand is sufficient, even in surplus.

“Preparations for Eid al-Adha are secure and sufficient until the day. I've received the reports, and it's safe; the numbers are very sufficient,”
Furthermore, the Minister highlighted that his ministry actively monitors the availability of sacrificial animals in all regions. Not only focuses on availability, but he's also ensuring animals' health.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Nasrullah, confirmed that his department has taken various important steps to ensure the smooth implementation of this year’s sacrificial rituals.
“We ensure that the livestock health certificates for transported animals are complete, verify ear tags to ensure animals are registered, and deploy animal health officers in districts/cities to conduct routine checks at livestock holding areas,” he concluded.
