Jakarta – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially removed the class 1, 2, 3 system of the Social Health Insurance Administration Organization (BPJS).
The Head of State will implement the Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) system as a replacement.
It sets through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 59 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2018 concerning Health Insurance, as stipulated on May 8 2024.
The Presidential Decree further regulates when the KRIS system will go into effect in 2025.
In article 103B Paragraph 1 it is stated that the implementation of treatment room facilities based on KRIS will come into effect throughout Indonesia probably on June next year.
"It will be implemented comprehensively for hospitals that collaborate with BPJS Health," as quoted from the Presidential Decree, on Monday (May 13).
Through the same Presidential Decree, the President also gave hospitals time to prepare to implement the new system. So, before June 30, hospitals may provide some or all inpatient services based on KRIS.
"Hospitals can provide some or all inpatient services based on Standard Inpatient Classes according to the hospital's capabilities," President Jokowi remarked.
The government has been planning to abolish the BPJS Health class system and replace it with the KRIS system since last year.
