Riyadh – A person died and 75 were hospitalised after a food poisoning incident in a restaurant chain in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as reported from the Ministry of Health's statement.
From the 75 cases, 69 of those who fell sick were Saudis, while six were non-Saudis.
Moreover the authority revealed that all the cases of food poisoning were linked to a single restaurant, without providing information of its name. From all the cases, 50 were confirmed to be food poisoning.
On Friday, the Riyadh Municipality confirmed that the initial results of an investigation by health authorities suggest a single company was responsible for several cases of food poisoning last week.
It said that the chain could be fined over the outbreak and that all of its branches and food-processing facilities in Riyadh and al-Kharj remain closed.
The municipality did not say how long the company’s branches and other facilities would remain closed for but said all food products they contained would be destroyed, as quoted from Khaleej site.
