Jakarta – MRT Jakarta put vending machine equipped with QR code payment at every corner of the station to reduce queues during peak hours.
"We will implement this ticket printing machine at the end of May 2024," said MRT Jakarta Director of Operations and Maintenance Mega Tarigan at Jakarta, on Monday.
Tarigan is targeting automatic ticket vending machines to be installed at all MRT Jakarta stations. Currently the machine is only available at HI Roundabout Station.
It's hoped that this machine will make people more flexible in being able to enter the MRT simply by attaching the QR code display to the reader machine.
This QR code display can later be shared via email and WhatsApp for phone users.
"So, users just have to open WhatsApp which has a QR Code and that is scanned into the reader machine at the station," she explained.
The payment methods on this machine can use credit/debit cards or server-based QRIS payments.
This ticket machine experience is aimed at facilitating various inclusive digital payments and accommodating everyday urban lifestyles for customers.
In 2025-2028, MRT Jakarta is targeting ticket payments via cards (electronic money cards and JakLingko multi-mode) and data networks or servers (MyMRTJ application), to QR codes.
MRT Jakarta is also targeting electronic money card or ticket payments through JakLingko and the passing gate (entrance) to become one reader machine in phase two.
It's targeted that the operation of the HI-Monas Roundabout Station MRT will be completed in 2027 and hope, it will reach the city in 2029.
