Nusa Tenggara – During his visit to Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) on Thursday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) highlighted the declining price of corn because oversupply.
President Jokowi highlighted that the price of corn has dropped drastically from IDR 7,000 to IDR 4,200. This price decrease is not beneficial for the farmers.
"The price, which was previously IDR 7,000, has now dropped to IDR 4,200. Good for breeders, but not so good for farmers," the President remarked.
President Jokowi explained that maintaining price stability during oversupply is not easy.
Therefore, the President advised farmers to increase corn productivity.
The Head of State believed that high corn productivity will certainly bring benefits and increase the income of farmers.
On the other hand, President Jokowi hopes that corn prices will continue to rise and there will be a balance between demand and supply.
He has also instructed his officials to make accurate calculations.
"We have encouraged, but if the supply is too large, demand remains the same, the market law dictates that prices will inevitably drop due to oversupply," he concluded.
