“Indonesia is a tough country. We've proven this in the midst of unfavorable global economic conditions in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing geopolitical tensions, financial pressures, trade fragmentation and climate change," Hartarto said in a statement on Wednesday.

In a guest lecture at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in London, England, the Minister highlighted the importance of developing human resources (HR) and mastering science and technology.  Moreover, Indonesia has a demographic bonus opportunity that must be utilized well.

According to Minister Hartarto, the country's economic fundamentals have still grown at 5 percent for the last eight consecutive quarters.

Meanwhile, Indonesia also has political stability because in February 2024, Indonesia successfully held general election.

"The new government will remain committed to structural reform priorities, and the election results will not shift this stance. The policy focus on growth and fiscal vigilance will remain intact. After a solid economic recovery from the pandemic, Indonesia continues to move towards becoming an advanced economy," the minister remarked.

To achieve this, Minister said that the government is committed to encouraging economic growth of an average of 6-7 percent per year in the next 20 years.

For this reason, investment support is needed to grow by 6.8 percent per year.
