Spain – In the 2024 Spanish MotoGP, Marc Marquez got his 93rd pole position and for the first time with the Gresini Racing MotoGP team. Starting in pole position certainly opens up opportunities for Marc to climb the podium.
As shown during the 2024 Spanish MotoGP Sprint Race which took place at the Jerez Circuit on Saturday (April 27). The racer from Spain almost won the podium if he had not experienced an incident because his motorbike tire ran over a wet spot on the asphalt.
"When the job seemed finished, I relaxed for one second and ended up in a small wet area. It was no bigger than 20 centimeters, but it had a big impact," Marc Marquez said in a statement.
Luckily, he was still able to continue the race until he finished 7th and got additional points.
Seeing the potential in the Sprint Race, Marc is optimistic that he will be able to give his best during the main race on Sunday (April 28). Even more so if the track is really dry.
"Everything will be different because the track will be completely dry and we will most likely change the rear tire option. Meanwhile we are in pole position and increasingly comfortable aiming for the podium," Marquez concluded.
