"The price per kilo, which could reach IDR 8,000 last year, has now dropped to around IDR 4,000 to IDR 5,000 per kilogram. This indicates that our production is a lot," the Head of State said while visiting Boalemo, Gorontalo on Monday (April 22).

"We hope for both, an increase in production, and an increase in prices," the President added.

The Head of State further mentioned that the farming landscape in Boalemo is predominantly corn and coconut, so the availability of seeds and fertilizers must be timely and adequate.

Therefore, President Jokowi has instructed the Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman to address these needs.

Moreover, it's important to implement terracing systems in hilly areas to prevent erosion and sedimentation.

"We see from above and after landing, the planting of corn, especially in hilly areas, must use terracing systems because I see the sedimentation in the rivers is already very brown. This must be done, it's okay to start slowly," President Jokowi explained.

The President's visit reaffirms the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and the welfare of farmers, as well as sustainable efforts to enhance national food security.
