Tim Cook Puts Investment to Build Apple Developer Academy in Indonesia

Jakarta – The Industry Minister, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita ensured that Apple's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tim Cook puts investment in Indonesia.
"The investment value is around IDR1.6 Trillion," said the Minister after a meeting with Tim Cook and President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace on Thursday.
The Minister explained that Tim Cook will invest in building educational infrastructure, namely the Apple Developer Academy, in four regions: Bali, Batam, Surabaya, and South Tangerang (Banten).

In addition to these four cities, Minister Kartasasmita stated that similar facilities will also be built in the Eastern regions of Indonesia and in the new capital city (IKN Nusantara)
"We actually want to Apple Development Academy built in the East (of Indonesia), one in Makassar, and IKN Nusantara," Minister Kartasasmita remarked.
Thus, this can be included in the context of calculating the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), as a form of government flexibility in accommodating investment interest in Indonesia.
"That's the flexible ways of calculating TKDN, but investments are coming in," the Minister said.
On the other hand, Minister Kartasasmita also ensured that the government will encourage Apple to build factories in Indonesia.
According to him, Indonesia is ready to produce several components, such as batteries, cables, and others.
"Apple's approach is very unique that we take. Because to calculate TKDN, it's based on investment, and their investment is in building educational infrastructure for potential developers, namely the Apple Developer Academy," the Minister concluded.
