Tangerang – Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) recorded a total of 179,483 passengers passing through during the peak of the Eid homecoming returnflow on Monday (April 15).
Based on predictions from previous airline data, around 190,000 passengers were expected to pass through Soetta Airport during the peak of the 2024 Eid homecoming returnflow rush, with domestic arrivals dominating.
Holik Muardi, Senior Manager of Branch Communication and Legal, stated that out of the 179,483 passengers at Soetta Airport, 99,951 arrived and 79,532 departed.
This is in line with the government's regulation implementing Work from Home (WFH) for civil servants to prevent congestion during the Eid homecoming returnflow peak.
"Yes, there was a shift when the government implemented WFH, which reduced the expected figure from 190,000 to 179,000 today. We predict passenger movement will continue to increase for the next two days," Muardi remarked on Monday.
Nevertheless, passenger movement experienced an increase compared to yesterday, April 14, 2024, with an increase of approximately 0.25 percent or around 6,000 passengers.
"The number of passengers compared to yesterday still rose; yesterday saw 173,846 passengers," he remarked.
Meanwhile, they continue to anticipate potential congestion in the baggage area, despite passenger density not meeting initial predictions.
"We continue to anticipate potential congestion in the baggage facilities. We are coordinating and adding ground handling staff to prevent accumulation," he concluded.
