Minister Believes Eid Homecoming to Boost Economic Growth in Q1 2024

Jakarta – The Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi believed that the Eid homecoming has significant impact on increasing the economic movement of the community.
"Eid homecoming provides a very good economic movement to the regions," the Minister said on Saturday.
Based on the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the turnover of money during Ramadan and Eid holiday may boost economic growth in the first quarter of 2024, reaching an estimated IDR 157.3 trillion.

"This means that the movement in Eid transportation creates valuable opportunities and benefits," Minister Sumadi stated.
Furthermore, the Minister stated that the organization of Eid homecoming transportation is a form of test, regarding the extent to which the Government's ability to provide public services of strategic value.
"This will certainly have a significant impact on public trust and satisfaction with the governance,"
According to the minister, the organization of Eid homecoming transportation this year also has challenge.
Based on the survey results from the Ministry of Transportation, the potential for homecoming is193 million, an increase of 56 percent compared to last year.
"The figure of 193 million is very large, but President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed that the homecoming must still be carried out properly. We have also made efforts to make this better," Minister Sumadi remarked.
The government has made efforts to prepare in all sectors to face this year's Eid transportation.
Furthermore, to carry out monitoring, coordination, and collaboration among all stakeholders, the Transportation Ministry has also established the 2024 Integrated Eid Transportation Center.
