7.97 Million People to Use Airplane during Eid Homecoming

Jakarta – Angkasa Pura Indonesia of InJourney Airports targets to serve as many as 7.97 million passengers during the 2024 Eid homecoming period from April 3-18, 2024.

"The target number of passengers is expected to increase by 10 percent compared to the realization during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr exodus, which reached 7.22 million passengers," said Faik Fahmi, the Main Director of InJourney Airports in Jakarta on Tuesday.

InJourney Airports also predicts there will be 57,778 aircraft movements during this year's Eid al-Fitr post, an increase of 7 percent compared to the realization of aircraft movements during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr post, which reached 54,193 movements.

"Meanwhile, the target for cargo movements is set to reach 51,200 tons during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr post, an increase of 18 percent compared to the 2023 Eid al-Fitr post, which reached 43,550 tons of movement," Fahmi informed.

Fahmi added that the 35 airports managed by the company also submitted 2,470 additional flights (extra flights), which will be available at 14 airports served by 12 airlines. These consist of 9 domestic airlines and 3 foreign airlines.

"We have also identified 6 airports that will operate 24 hours a day, as requested by flight operators," Fahmi remarked.

These six airports include I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport, Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar Airport, Sam Ratulangi Manado Airport, Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng Airport, Kuala Namu Medan Airport, and Halim Perdanakusuma Jakarta Airport.

He also predicted that the busiest airports during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr post period will be Soekarno-Hatta Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport, and Juanda Surabaya Airport.

"However, we will continue to provide maximum service at all managed airports, so that airport users can travel for Eid with peace, safety, and comfort," Fahmi concluded.
