Jay Idzes Selected as Best Player of the World Cup Qualifiers

Jakarta – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held a fan vote to select their best player in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for the Asian zone in March 2024.
As a result, Indonesian national team defender Jay Idzes was voted the best player of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. He received 50 percent of the votes in the poll.
Then followed by Mousa Al-Taamari (Jordan, 20 percent), Omar Khrbin (Syria,14 percent), Sharif Muhammad (Afghanistan, 9 percent), and Oday Dabbagh (Palestine, 6 percent).
Jay Idzes has successfully attract the Indonesian football lovers since making his impressive debut.
The player who defends Serie B club Venezia played nicely on his debut by helping Indonesia beat Vietnam 1-0 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta (March 21).
Five days later, Idzes scored one of the Indonesia’s three goals in a 3-0 win over Vietnam at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi.
"Idzes' presence brings a wealth of experience having played for Dutch and Italian clubs," wrote the AFC in its review.
"He helped Indonesia to two wins over their regional rivals to strengthen their chances of advancing to the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers."
On the other hand, the Indonesian national team is currently ranked second in the 2026 World Cup Qualifying standings with seven points. Indonesia are below Iraq who have collected perfect points from four matches.
