Guswanto, Deputy of Meteorology at BMKG, said that the agency is implementing a "standby on call" system for weather modification in several areas that are potentially affected by extreme weather. This aims to ensure that these areas remain safe and comfortable for travelers.

"There are several areas that are categorized as protected. For these areas, we have prepared weather modification services with a standby on call system," said Guswanto in a dialogue at the Merdeka Barat Forum 9 (FMB9) with the theme 'Safe Eid, Cheerful Homecoming Full of Meaning', quoted by VIVA English on Monday.

Based on BMKG's predictions, in the week leading up to Eid (April 3-9), several regions in Indonesia will still be dominated by light to moderate rain. Some areas that are predicted to experience moderate rain include West Java, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Papua.

BMKG is also paying special attention to areas that are prone to flooding, such as Semarang, Demak, Kudus, Pati, Rembang, and along the Pantura (North Coast) region. Weather modification with NaCl is still ongoing in Semarang and West Java to prevent flooding.

In addition to the potential for rain, BMKG is also urging the public to be aware of high waves that are predicted to reach 1.5-2.5 meters in the southern Indian Ocean. Travelers using sea routes such as the Sunda Strait, Merak Port, Ketapang, and Gilimanuk must be vigilant.

BMKG is continuously coordinating with the Ministry of Transportation and several related agencies to prepare for the increase in wave height due to extreme weather.
