PM Fumio Kishida Congratulates Prabowo Subianto as New President

Jakarta – The Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Fumio Kishida sent a congratulatory letter to Indonesian president-elect Prabowo Subianto.
"Prime Minister Kishida expressed his congratulations on the election of Mr Prabowo as president for the 2024-2029 period," said the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta in a written statement on Thursday.
In a letter, he wrote about the relations between Japan and Indonesia to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last year, which coincided with the 65th diplomatic anniversary between Japan and Indonesia
"He also expressed his desire to encourage various bilateral cooperation and work together in handling regional and international situations," said the Japanese Embassy.
Kishida sent the letter after the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) appointed the Indonesian President and Vice Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period.
This determination is contained in KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the determination of the results of the election for president and vice president, as well as members of the People's Representative Council, Regional Representative Council, Provincial Regional House of Representative and Regency/City DPRD 2024.
