137 Train Passengers Hit by Truck Strike in Serdang Bedagai Survived

Sumatra - The train hit a broken-down truck at a train crossing in Serdang Bedagai (Sergai) Regency, North Sumatra.
The Public Relations Manager of KAI Divre I SU, Anwar Solihin said that 317 passengers on the train were safe.
"All 317 train passengers are safe," he said on Wednesday.
The Putri Deli train (U76A) on the Medan-Tanjung Balai route was in a collision. The incident happened at the guard crossing (JPL Number 31) between Perbaungan Station and Lidah Tanah Station, on Tuesday evening.
Based on the officer's statement, when the train was about to pass, the truck broke through the crossing gate which was already closed. The truck suddenly broke down and was hit by a train.
As a result of this incident, the driver and his assistant suffered injuries due to being trapped. The victims have been taken to Sultan Sulaiman House for treatment.
"KAI Divre I North Sumatra regrets this incident and appeals to all road users to be disciplined and obey signs and prioritize train travel," he explained.
They're demanding compensation for this incident. Currently, KAI is calculating the total losses due to this incident.
"We will prosecute in accordance with applicable regulations and laws. We will calculate the material and immaterial losses resulting from the incident," he concluded.
