Aceh – The energy company from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mubadala Energy RSC, will conduct the second well drilling off the coast of Aceh after the 2024 Eid al-Fitr.

This drilling activity is a continuation of the successful drilling of Layaran Satu well.

Mahdinur, the Head of the Aceh Energy and Mineral Resources Agency, stated that this exploration activity aims to ensure the oil and gas reserves in Aceh's water.

"This drilling is part of the exploration activity to confirm the oil and gas reserves underground," Mahdinur said on Friday.

The drilling of the second well will commence in two months, around April or after Eid al-Fitr in 2024.

He continued that the oil and gas exploration process requires several stages and a long time.

"In fact, the first exploration stage, which is searching for oil and gas reserves, takes around 10 years out of the total 30-year oil and gas contract," Mahdinur explained.

"If this second well drilling succeeds, next year they (Mubadala Energy) will begin studies for five years," he added.
