Indonesia to Import 3000 Cows for Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr

Jakarta – President Director of ID Food, Frans Marganda Tambunan, revealed that Indonesia to import 3,000 cows for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2024.
"The first arrival of cows will arrive in March, approximately 3,000 for the availability of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr," said Marganda in a statement on Wednesday.
In addition, 20,000 tons of beef from Australia will also be imported. The imported beef is targeted to arrive in the country after Eid al-Fitr.
"As for other products such as Australian beef, this is a b to b submission that is now also in process, which will arrive after Eid al-Fitr," he explained.
In addition to importing cows and beef from Australia. ID Food also received an assignment to import 20,000 tons of frozen beef from Brazil.
Then, there are other commodities, namely 296,000 tons of white crystal sugar and 20,000 tons of garlic. In this case, the import of the two commodities is awaiting an official assignment from the Ministry of SOEs.
"While there are several assignments, we are currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of SOEs such as for raw crystal sugar and garlic. Once we get approval, we will immediately procure these products," Marganda explained.
He continued, that commodities that are currently available in Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are cooking oil. The amount of cooking oil available is 5.1 million liters.
"We have prepared 5.1 million liters of cooking oil available in the fasting month and Eid, which we get from producers and distribute through distributors and the Cheap Food Movement," Marganda concluded.
