5 Indonesian Archery Athletes Qualify for 2024 Paris Paralympics

France – Five Indonesian archery athletes have successfully qualified for the 2024 Paralympics, which will be held in Paris, France, the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) announced in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"There are five archery athletes that have secured tickets to the Paris Paralympics," vice secretary-general of the Indonesian NPC, Rima Ferdianto said as reported by Antara site.

Ferdianto stated that the male athletes include Ken Swagumilang, who will compete in the men's compound number, and Kholidinand Setiawan, who will participate in the men's recurve number.

The three male athletes who will compete in the Paralympics accomplished notable feats at the Pilsen 2023 World Archery Para Championships in the Czech Republic, he added.

He further said that the Indonesian archery team will be represented by Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly, who clinched a gold in the women's compound number at the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament for the 2024 Paralympics in Bangkok, Thailand, in November last year.

The second female athlete to secure a ticket to the Paris Paralympics is Wahyu Retno Wulandari, who claimed gold in the women's doubles at the 2022 Asian Para Games, he said.

Ferdianto conveyed that the Indonesian NPC has set a target of taking 27 athletes from 10 sports to the Paris Paralympics, which are scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024.

The Indonesian contingent is expected to win two gold medals in the international tournament, he continued.

He revealed that the Indonesian NPC has received US$2.3 million (IDR36 billion) in funding from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to make proper preparations for the upcoming Paralympics.
