Jokowi Attends ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne

Melbourne – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) headed to Melbourne, Australia from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Monday. The Head of State will attend the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit.
The summit, held in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the ASEAN-Australia Partnership, will discuss the strategic partnership between ASEAN and Australia.
"The theme raised is Partnership for the Future, which discusses how the ASEAN-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership can be optimized in the future to realize a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region," the President said in a press statement.
President Jokowi said at the meeting, Indonesia will encourage the strengthening of cooperation in several areas, ranging from economic integration, energy transition, to digital transformation.
"I will use this opportunity to encourage cooperation to strengthen economic integration, energy transition, and digital transformation, as well as the advancement of a paradigm of collaboration and consistent respect for international law, including on the Palestinian issue," the President explained.
In addition to attending the ASEAN-Australia Summit, President Jokowi will also hold bilateral meetings with a number of state leaders, including the Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Prime Minister of Cambodia.
