Prabowo Subianto Receives Honorary Military Rank by President Jokowi

Jakarta – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto will receive a special promotion from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the rank of Indonesian National Army (TNI) General at the Indonesian National Army-Police (TNI-Polri) Leadership Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The information was announced by Spokesperson of the Indonesian Defence Ministry, Dahnil Ahzar Simanjuntak.
"Mr. Subianto will receive a Presidential Decree in the form of a special promotion, making him a TNI General," Simanjuntak said in a press statement.

According to Simanjuntak, this award is in accordance with Law Number 20 of 2009 concerning Titles, Decorations, and Honorary Titles.
"This honor has also been received by General Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Mr. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Mr. Hendropriyono, and several other figures," he informed.
The full general title bestowed upon Minister Prabowo Subianto is based on his dedication and contributions in the military and defense sector, Simanjuntak added.
"Therefore, Mr. Subianto was proposed by the TNI Headquarters to the President to be given the full general rank.
Separately, Head of TNI Information Center Major General Nugraha Gumilar also confirmed the plan to confer the title of TNI General on Prabowo Subianto.
It's known that during the TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting at the TNI Headquarters, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to receive the Presidential Decree on the Honorary Promotion at 9:40 a.m.
The event will take place after President Jokowi gives directions in the TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting.
