Stakeholders Discuss Preparations for 2025 World Rally Championship

Jakarta – In preparation for the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) in North Sumatra, the Chairman of the Indonesian Motor Association of North Sumatra (IMI Sumut), Musa Rajekshah, had a discussion with the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office in Jakarta on Monday.
Rajekshah also reported the successful completion of the 2023 APRC Championship at Lake Toba last year, which was a resounding success.
"Thank you, Minister. Alhamdulillah, our WRC 2023 event was successful. We hope that the WRC 2025 will be even better," Rajekshah accompanied by the Chairman of IMI North Sumatra, Harun Mustafa Nasution, and the Secretary General of IMI North Sumatra, Rudy Siregar.
In 2025, Indonesia is expected to host the World Rally Championship (WRC). Therefore, IMI Sumut is expected to organize a better world-class championship.

"Here, we must make it even better for WRC 2025. So, the national championship and the Asia Pacific one must succeed in 2024," the Chairman of IMI North Sumatra, Harun Mustafa Nasution added.
"So, we'll have the Asia Pacific championship once, and the national championship will be in May. We ask for the full support from the Minister to ensure the success of the world championship because the key lies in this year's Asia Pacific championship,"
Minister Ariotedjo then expressed hope for broader coordination with both the IMI Central and several relevant stakeholders.
"We will coordinate again with Deputy IV for the preparation of hosting this world championship. Because, this involves the Asia Pacific, WRC, and so on. This way, we can also get support from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Tourism, and even the President," the Minister explained.
As information, holding rally championships in North Sumatra isn't a new thing.
In 1986, the Trans Sumatra Rally was held, followed by the Asia Pacific Rally in 1989, 2000, 2019, and 2022, as well as the World Rally Championship in 1996-1997.
