Qatar – Lusail Stadium will be the venue for the 2023 Asian Cup final. Jordan and Qatar will battle it out here on Saturday.Â
It is the largest stadium in Qatar and the Middle East in terms of capacity; one of eight stadiums being built for the 2022 World Cup.
Lusail Stadium is the second largest stadium in Asia, but will eventually reduce its current capacity from 88,966 to 40,000 in the near future.
The stadium is located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Doha, in the city of Lusail. Lusail Stadium was inaugurated on September 9, 2022 with the Lusail Super Cup match.
Moreover, Lusail Stadium hosted 10 matches at the 2022 World Cup. One was the final match between the Argentina national team and the France national team.
Argentina successfully defeated France 4-2 (3-3) on penalties, December 18, 2022. Lionel Messi finally tasted the World Cup title.
This is the third World Cup title for Argentina. The Albiceleste had to wait 36 years after last winning in 1986 in the Diego Maradona era.
At the 2023 Asian Cup, Lusail Stadium only held two matches. Namely the opening match between host Qatar against Lebanon and the final which pits Qatar vs Jordan.
