State Officials Should Remain Neutral During Election, Jokowi Says

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reiterated the necessity for all civil servants (ASN), Indonesian Nation Military (TNI), Indonesian Police (Polri), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to maintain neutrality in the 2024 General Election.
"I want to emphasize once again that ASN, TNI, Polri, including BIN, must remain neutral and uphold the sovereignty of the people," the Head of State said at the Limapuluh Toll Gate, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra, on Wednesday.
The President also urged the Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), both at the central and regional levels, to act professionally and uphold the integrity of the elections.
"KPU, Bawaslu, and all levels down to the regions must be professional and ensure the integrity of the elections so that the people's voices truly reign," the President stated.
"We all must maintain peaceful, honest, and fair elections, respect the election results, and unite once again to build Indonesia," he continued.
A week before the polling day on February 14, 2024, the Head of State invited all Indonesian citizens to come to the polling stations to exercise their voting rights.
"Yes, I urge, I invite all citizens to exercise their voting rights, come to the polling stations, and cast their votes according to their choices," he emphasized.
As information, the presidential election is scheduled to take place on February 14, 2024. Three presidential-vice presidential candidate pairs are contesting the election — Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
