Jambi – The Indonesian Health Ministry will build hundreds of central hospitals with a budget reaching IDR 30 trillion.
Azhar Jaya, the Director-General of Health Services at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, stated that this fund is allocated for constructing intermediate hospitals in 514 districts and cities, along with main hospitals in 34 provinces, with the main challenge being human resources.
"Actually, the current issue is not related to the budget but rather to human resources," he said at Mattaher Hospital, Jambi, on Tuesday.
In enhancing human resources, the Ministry of Health has prepared LPDP scholarships (a scholarship program funded by the Indonesian government).
"We have also collaborated with the Ministry of Education and Private Universities to accelerate and expand the scope so that districts and cities can soon become intermediate hospitals," Jaya remarked.
Jaya also assessed that the human resources at Mattaher Hospital Jambi is already sufficient, so the Health Ministry only needs to provide equipment, and when it provides equipment to Mattaher, the value reaches 120 billion.
Then in the future, the Ministry of Health will assist with equipment, especially for mothers and children, and later Mattaher can handle premature babies. For the main type of premature babies, it's 1500 to 2000.
"In the past, unfortunately, there were premature babies below 1500 grams, and if the equipment was not complete, they would surely die. Now, we want to equip Mattaher hospital to handle premature babies from 1500 to 2000 grams, and we will provide the necessary equipment," he concluded.
