Ahok Resigns as Pertamina's President Commissioner
Jakarta – Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, shortname Ahok, on Friday announced his resignation from the position of President Commissioner of Pertamina.
"This upload is proof of receipt of my Resignation Letter as President Commissioner of Pertamina (Persero) which I submitted today, February 2, 2024," Ahok said in his official Instagram account, @basukibtp on Friday.
He also revealed his reasons for resigning. Ahok will join the campaign in supporting the Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD Presidential-Vice Presidential candidate.
"With this, I declare that I support and will participate in the campaign or the presidential candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD," Ahok stated.
In addition, he emphasized that his attitude was so that there would be no more confusion regarding his political direction.
"This is so that there is no more confusion regarding my political direction. Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!" he added.
It's known that Ahok became Pertamina's President Commissioner on November 25, 2019 by President Jokowi.
For politics, Ahok has joined the PDIP which has been registered as a member since February 8, 2019. Ahok was also the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta accompanying Joko Widodo at that time.
When President Jokowi was elected President, he automatically became the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta.
