Borneo – Indonesian taxi company Bluebird has allocated an investment of IDR250 billion to provide eco-friendly public transportation in the new capital, Nusantara Capital (IKN).
Bluebird's CEO, Adrianto Djokosoetono, has not officially disclosed the types of vehicles to be introduced in the new capital.
"We will proceed with fleet procurement gradually, and the timing will definitely be before the official inauguration of IKN," said Andre, Adrianto's shortname, in Jakarta.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that Bluebird would introduce environmentally friendly public transportation, including electric buses, electric taxis, electric car rentals, and electric city buses connecting Balikpapan to IKN.
"The launch of this eco-friendly transportation will expedite the development of an electric-based public transportation system in the Nusantara Capital," the President remarked.
Andre emphasized that the investment of IDR250 billion not only covers the introduction of eco-friendly vehicles but also includes infrastructure and supporting facilities.
"So, we will bring our operations closer there. However, I cannot answer the fleet procurement planning at the moment because it has not been officially approved," he stated.
As information, the supporting facilities built by Bluebird in IKN will be managed in an integrated manner using smart technology. These facilities include stops, park and ride, transfer points, and depots.
