VKTR Handover Eight Electric Buses to Private Company on Sumatra Island

Jakarta – VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) handed over eight employee operational electric buses to the first private company on the Sumatra island, Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP).
The use of these electric buses is an effort to support the Government of Indonesia's program to prevent climate change.
Gilarsi W. Setijono, Chief Executive Officer of VKTR said that as a pioneer in the commercial electric vehicle category in Indonesia, VKTR is pleased to be given the trust by RAPP.
"VKTR appreciates and is ready to support the company in realizing its commitment to achieve the government's Net-Zero Emission 2060 target," Setijono said in a statement on Thursday.

During 2021-2023, the APRIL Group subsidiary has operated 10 units of electric buses. Then in early 2024, RAPP brought in another eight units of electric buses.
Then in early 2024, RAPP brought in another eight units of electric buses produced by BYD, in collaboration with VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) as the distributor in Indonesia.
This brings the total number of electric buses supporting the company's operations to 18, which continues to demonstrate the company's commitment to sustainable business.
Eduward Ginting, RAPP's Chief Operating Officer (COO), believed that the addition of VKTR's fleet further affirms APRIL Group's commitment to supporting the government's Net-Zero Emission 2060 program.
"The use of electric buses is one of our many efforts to fulfill our commitment to reduce carbon emissions in our operational processes, and as part of APRIL's 2030 sustainability commitment launched in 2020," he explained.
In addition to switching to electric buses, RAPP's commitment to optimizing the use of renewable energy sources also includes the construction of solar panels to power the pulp and paper mill.
Currently, this has only reached a total of 11 megawatts (MW) out of a target of 50 MW by 2030.
He also remarked that these efforts are in line with APRIL 2030, APRIL Group's vision for addressing the challenges of the next decade, summarized in four commitments: Climate Positive, Thriving Landscapes, Inclusive Progress, and Sustainable Growth.
