Jakarta – President Director of Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, said that the company will use dynamic pricing scheme for the Whoosh ticket.
If this dynamic pricing mechanism is implemented, the Whoosh ticket price will be cheaper at certain hours, and will be more expensive at certain hours, especially on holidays.
"(The dynamic pricing policy) will be implemented soon," Riyadi said at the House of Representatives Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday.
He explained that this dynamic tariff policy was carried out, in order to get around the low occupancy of fast train passengers at certain hours.
Because, KCIC already has data related to the times when occupancy is high and when occupancy is low in several certain hours.
"So during off-peak hours, we will also provide low fares," Riyadi said.
He gave an example, the peak hours at Halim Station usually occur on weekdays, namely from morning until 3 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, quiet hours usually happen at night except on weekends.
"At Tegalluar Station it is the opposite. Off-peak hours are from morning until 12 p.m. and peak hours are at 12 a.m.," Riyadi informed.
He confirmed that dynamic tariff policies like this are actually common in various service sectors. For example, in the railroad, hospitality, and aviation sectors.
"So, we will also apply dynamic pricing," he remarked.
