Jakarta – Apple has announced that Apple Music customers now have access to collaborative playlists with the launch of iOS 17.3.
As the name suggests, this new feature allows users to collaborate on playlists with friends and family. Users can invite each other to choose songs for a shared playlist. The feature also allows you to use emojis to react to specific songs.
The new feature is an easy way to share music with others in one place. Additionally, it can be used to plan soundtracks for events like parties or game nights.
The launch of this new feature comes a few months after Spotify introduced a collaborative playlist feature called "Jam."
To start using this feature, you need to navigate to the playlist and click on the new "collaborate" button that appears next to the download icon at the top right of your screen. You can then invite people to the playlist.
Invited users will receive an SMS to join the playlist. Everyone on the playlist has the option to add, remove, or rearrange songs.
Collaborative playlists were initially expected to be launched alongside iOS 17, but Apple previously noted that it was delayed until 2024.
Apple also announced that users can now contribute to what's playing in the car with SharePlay.
When users are in the car and streaming music through Apple Music, other trusted iPhone devices will receive an invitation to join the session.
Listeners can then control the music from their own devices, even if they don't have an Apple Music subscription.
The iOS 17.3 launch also brings the Stolen Device Protection feature from Apple, which helps prevent thieves from accessing your information.
To activate Stolen Device Protection, you need to go to settings and tap on "Face ID & Passcode."
Then, you need to enter your device's passcode, tap to enable Stolen Device Protection. This feature must be activated before the device is lost or stolen to function.
