Six Killed in Tegal Karaoke Place Fire

Tegal – A fire occurred at a karaoke venue in Tegal City, Central Java, on Monday morning, and killed 6 people.
According to Tegal City Police Chief Rully Thomas, the karaoke place was located on Veteran Street in the Tegalsari sub-district, Tegal Barat, Tegal City.
"Personnel from the Police Resort and sector police immediately moved to the scene," Thomas said in a statement.
Together with the community, the police immediately evacuated the victims.
"The number of casualties from this incident is currently reported at 9 individuals. Of these, the Hospital has confirmed that 6 have tragically lost their lives due to inhaling smoke (CO2)," he informed.
The remaining individuals are still receiving medical treatment, and currently, all victims are in Kardinah Hospital in Tegal City.
He added that the police immediately went to the location, bringing an Armoured Water Cannon (AWC) vehicle owned by the Police Resort to assist the firefighters in extinguishing the fire.
"Tegal City Police deployed two fire trucks, one crane truck belonging to the Transportation Agency, and one Armoured Water Cannon owned by the Police Resort," Thomas revealed.
Regarding the cause of the fire, he stated, "We do not yet know the exact cause as it is still under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit. Additionally, we have requested assistance from the Central Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory to support the handling of the incident," he concluded.
