Serang – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated the Type A Pakupatan Terminal in Serang, Banten, on Monday. This terminal is capable of facilitating the operation of hundreds of buses daily.
"I'm happy to see this Pakupatan Terminal bustling, accommodating up to 400 buses every day. This is excellent," the Head of State expressed on Monday.
Then, the President expressed his hope that with the terminal's improved condition, the number of buses would be increased further. He emphasized the importance of the public transitioning to mass transportation.
"More buses and more passengers indicate increased public reliance on public transportation. The more, the better," President Jokowi said.
Thus, the President highlighted that by increasing the number of buses, the perception of the terminal being unsafe would diminish, promoting greater community mobility.
He emphasized that terminals also serve as hubs for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
"We must reverse the notion that terminals are unsafe, a haven for troublemakers. It should be perceived as a comfortable space, offering good services, and fostering small to medium-sized businesses to trade their products in our terminals," President Jokowi explained.
Therefore, he highly appreciated the collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation, regional governments, provincial governments, and city governments regarding this Pakupatan Terminal.
"This collaboration has made the Pakupatan Terminal a reality," he concluded."
