Jokowi Inaugurates Three Bridges in Central Java for Fast Mobility

Central Java – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady, Iriana Jokowi inaugurated three bridges during his working visit to Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province, on Tuesday.
The three bridges inaugurated such as the Tajum Margasana Bridge and the Karangbawang Bridge in Banyumas Regency, as well as the Jurug B Bridge in Kota Surakarta.
"I inaugurated the Tajum Margasana Banyumas Bridge, secondly the Karangbawang Banyumas Bridge, and the Jurug B Solo-Karanganyar Bridge," said the Head of State at the inauguration ceremony which was centered on the Tajum Margasana Bridge.
These three bridges are part of the 37 Callender Hamilton (CH) bridges on the island of Java. According to the President, these bridges should be replaced due to their age.
"On the island of Java, there are 37 Callender Hamilton bridges that must be replaced because their service life has exceeded 40 years," the President remarked.
The Head of State explained that the Tajum Margasana Bridge costs IDR 72 billion, the Karangbawang Bridge IDR 89 billion, and the Jurug B Bridge costs IDR 90 billion.
The President hopes that the presence of these three bridges will facilitate the flow of fast mobility for goods and people.
"This will repair, will revitalize bridges which are indeed time to be renewed because the transportation burden, the logistics burden on the bridge is getting heavier day by day," President Widodo stated.
"We hope that with this new bridge, the mobility of goods and the mobility of people will be more secure and speedy," the President added.
Based on data from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the 37 Callender Hamilton bridges on Java Island are spread across 3 bridges in Banten Province, 16 bridges in West Java Province, 9 bridges in Central Java Province, and 9 in East Java Province. bridge.
The entire project costs IDR 2.2 trillion with a construction period of two years (December 2021 to December 2023), and a service period of 10 years until 2033.
As information, the Callender Hamilton Bridge is a modular, portable prefabricated truss bridge which allows construction to be carried out quickly because the components have been designed beforehand.
The Callender Hamilton Bridge in Indonesia has been built since the 1970s, and currently these bridges are over 50 years old, which has passed their service life and makes them vulnerable due to heavy logistics or transport loads, so they must be replaced with new ones.
