The United States Ban on Latest Apple Watch Sales

United States – The United States (US) government has banned Apple from selling its latest smartwatch products in this country. The ban comes into effect on Tuesday.
The products that are prohibited from being sold are the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Meanwhile, the ban was issued by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) after they obtained information related to the technology used by Apple on its two newest watches.
In its findings, the ITC highlighted that Apple had infringed on blood oxygen saturation technology patented by a company called Masimo.
Therefore, they asked Apple to stop selling smartwatches containing the technology.
The Office of the US Trade Representative represented by Katherine Tai said that the decision not to cancel ITC's request against Apple was the right move.
In response, an unnamed Apple spokesperson said that they are appealing the ITC's decision.
"We quite disagree with the decision. We will take various actions so that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 can be sold to US customers as soon as possible," he stated.
As information, this ban only applies to Apple stores in the US. This means that the two smartwatches can still be found in other stores such as Best Buy, Target, and other retailers while stocks last.
As for the pending legal process between Apple and Masimo, Apple has withdrawn the two watches from their website on December 21, 2023 and physical sales were stopped on December 24 in authorized stores.
