1.2 Million Vehicles Leave Jabotabek During Nataru Holidays

Jakarta – Jasa Marga recorded more than 1.2 million vehicles leaving the Jabotabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi) area during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays.

Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head of Jasa Marga, Lisye Octaviana said, this figure is a cumulative figure of traffic flow from four Barrier / Main Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Cikupa (Merak direction), GT Ciawi (Puncak direction). 

In addition, GT Cikampek Utama (Trans Java direction) and GT Kalihurip Utama (Bandung direction).

"The total volume of traffic leaving the Jabotabek area increased by 27.68 percent compared to normal traffic (996,555 vehicles) in the same period. When compared to the Christmas 2022 period, the total traffic volume increased by 10.23 percent (1,154,391 vehicles)," Octaviana said in a statement on Monday.

Octaviana remarked, that for the distribution of traffic leaving Jabotabek towards three directions, the majority of 621,609 vehicles (48.85 percent) headed east (Trans Java and Bandung), 359,766 vehicles (28.27 percent) headed west (Merak). And 291,059 vehicles (22.87 percent) headed south (Puncak). 

The details of the traffic distribution are as follows:

1. Eastbound (Trans Java & Bandung) 

- Traffic leaving Jabotabek for Trans Java through GT Cikampek Utama on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, with a total of 329,919 vehicles, increased 66.45 percent from normal traffic. 

- Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Bandung through GT Kalihurip Utama Cipularang Toll Road, with a total of 291,690 vehicles, an increase of 29.33 percent from normal traffic. 

2. Westbound (Merak)  

Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Merak through GT Cikupa Tangerang-Merak Toll Road is 359,766 vehicles or an increase of 10.29 percent from normal traffic. 

3. South direction (Puncak)

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek heading towards Puncak through GT Ciawi on the Jagorawi Toll Road was 291,059 vehicles an increase of 18.03 percent from normal traffic.

Therefore, Octaviana urged road users to organize their travel time back to Jabotabek to avoid the density that occurred on the day predicted as the peak of the Christmas 2023 return flow, namely on Tuesday.
