- Setpres
Kalimantan – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday inspected the progress of Nusantara Hotel construction in the new capital city, IKN, East Kalimantan.
The Head of State said the construction had reached 34 percent and it can be completed in August 2024.
"If we look at it like this, it will be completed sometime before August (2024)," said the President in a statement after inspection.
President Jokowi also said that the groundbreaking for the construction of a number of other infrastructure projects was considered to have the same development progress as Nusantara Hotel.
"I think the progress of the others should be more or less similar to Nusantara Hotel," the President added.
On this occasion, the Head of State remarked that the current construction of several projects in IKN shows the increasing interest of investors to invest there.
Therefore, President Jokowi said that the progress of the construction of each infrastructure that has been groundbreaking must continue to be checked every month.
"This is what I said, after one enters, the others will definitely flock, the others will flock, the ones behind will flock again, with this, there are different ones, there are hotels, there are malls, there are sports centers, there are hospitals. But the progress must be checked every month," President Jokowi explained.
Moreover, there are investors from East Kalimantan who are taking part in the IKN Nusantara Development, then the President considers this to be very good.
"Not only from Java, not only from Jakarta, there are investors from Balikpapan who are also starting, this is very good,"
Regarding foreign investors in IKN development, President Jokowi stated that as long as domestic investor interest is still high, the government will prioritize domestic investors.
"But also, in fact, domestic investors are already partners with foreign ones, one or two I know are partners with foreigners, I think it's the same," the President concluded.
