Bogor – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Otto Iskandar Dinata (Otista) Bridge in Bogor City, West Java on Tuesday. This bridge has been repaired since early 2023.
"By saying Bismillahirrohmanirrohim, I inaugurate the Otto Iskandar Dinata Bridge in Bogor City," said the Head of State on Tuesday.
According to the President, this bridge is one of the problems in Bogor City because it widens and narrows the bridge.
Therefore, the bridge repairs were carried out at a cost of around IDR 50 billion, President Jokowi added.
“If we look now it's more than enough (to spend) IDR 50 billion,"
Meanwhile, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya explained that this bridge was built in 1920 with a characteristic curved foundation under the bridge.
Then, this bridge was widened in 1970 and became the mainstay in Bogor City in 1990.
"In 2015, we conducted a study and implemented a 1-way system to reduce traffic jams. But it turns out that this point is the main narrowing point. "So, residents asked the government to expand it," he explained.
Arya further said that the Bogor City Government submitted an application to the West Java Provincial Government and it was finally approved in 2020 for repairs to be carried out.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic occurred so there was budget rationalization so it was postponed, Mayor Arya continued.
"Just at the beginning of this year the bridge was built," the Mayor remarked.
For this reason, he expressed his gratitude to the people who were patient in facing traffic jams and also the reduction in people's income.
