President Joko Widodo Mosque in Abu Dhabi Officially Opens to Public

Abu Dhabi – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) Mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) officially opened for the public on Thursday (December 14).
The mosque becomes a symbol of the strong relationship between Indonesia and UAE, the Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis stated.
The opening of the mosque was marked by inauguration activities including the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazroei, Head of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Waqaf Omar Habtoor Al-Direi, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, also several ASEAN Ambassadors.

The President Joko Widodo Mosque is located in the diplomatic area of ??Abu Dhabi and is crossed by President Joko Widodo Street.
The mosque stands on land with an area of ??3,766 m2 and can accommodate up to 2,500 worshipers.
"Hopefully the President Joko Widodo Mosque can be utilized as well as possible by the Indonesian people and the diplomatic corps in Abu Dhabi and its surroundings," Bagis said in a statement on Monday.
"This mosque has become a symbol of the strong brotherhood between the two presidents after the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Solo," he added.
Bagis hopes that in the future the President Joko Widodo Mosque can also be used to carry out various community activities such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Not only that, the Indonesian people in Abu Dhabi are also expected to be able to learn to read the Koran at the mosque. President Joko Widodo mosque began construction in 2021 and was completed around October 2023.
The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said that the presence of the President Joko Widodo Mosque was a symbol of the closeness of the two countries after President Joko Widodo walked into Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, it's symbolized by the presence of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Solo and the MBZ flyover. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo was inaugurated in November 2022.
The mosque, which was a gift from UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Jokowi, can accommodate up to 10,000 worshipers.
