Indonesia, 10 Friendly Countries Focus on Economic Cooperation

Jakarta – The economic cooperation was the focus of bilateral relations with 10 friendly countries who had just handed over their extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador (LBBP) credentials to President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Friday. This was stated by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
The ten countries in question are Denmark, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Rwanda, Pakistan, Chile, Laos, Canada, Jordan, and Angola.Â
Plenipotentiary ambassadors drom the 10 countries have submitted letters of credence marking their assignments in Indonesia to President Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
Minister Marsudi said that Indonesia's trade trend with 10 friendly countries has increased from year to year. Apart from that, of the friendly countries, Indonesia's trade experienced a surplus.
"The largest volume of trade carried out by these 10 countries was with Pakistan, which last year reached more than US$4,5 billion. Meanwhile, in terms of investment entering Indonesia, Jordan held the highest position last year, almost US$500 million," she explained.
In addition, the Minister said that Indonesia is currently negotiating an investment agreement with Kazakhstan. The Minister also said that Indonesia's investment with Cambodia, Jordan, and Angola has increased.
Besides economic cooperation, Minister Marsudi also conveyed cooperation in several other matters such as the protection of Indonesian citizens, industrial cooperation, and energy transition. For example, Indonesia is working together to tackle online fraud with Laos and Cambodia.
