Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Indonesian National Police officially signed a cooperation agreement to fight against corruption.
KPK Acting Chairman, Nawawi Pomolango stated this cooperation was by the mandate of Law Number 19 of 2019.
"KPK plays a significant role in eradicating corruption and supervision of agencies that eradicate corruption," Pomolango said in a statement on Monday.
"Therefore, we together with the Indonesian National Police Chief through the Head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim) and the KPK Deputy for Supervision Coordination signed a cooperation agreement," he continued.
In addition, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated the cooperation agreement was a form of synergy between the two law enforcement agencies in combating corruption.
"This is important to improve the synergy that has been built so far because KPK and the Police have a memorandum of understanding," Prabowo remarked.
Prabowo emphasized that the National Police continues to be committed to supporting corruption eradication measures. The police are also ready to coordinate law enforcement in corruption cases.
"This is our commitment to continue to work together, continue to support, including of course we are also ready to coordinate and also supervise matters that are indeed the domain and authority of the KPK," he concluded.
