Joe Biden Calls for Two-state Solution to Israel-Palestine War

Gaza – The United States President Joe Biden said in a statement published on X that the only way to ensure long-term security for Israelis and Palestinians is to achieve a two-state solution.
Joe Biden made the remarks during a speech in Nantucket, Massachusetts last week. Biden later underlined the statement and then reposted it via his personal X account on Sunday.
"To ensure Israelis and Palestinians live in equal freedom and dignity, we will not give up our efforts to achieve that goal," President Biden said.
In addition, several previous US administrations have expressed their support for a two-state solution to break the Israeli-Palestinian impasse. However, doubts are growing about the viability of this goal.
Negotiations on a two-state solution have been stalled for years, and Israel continues to expand illegal settlements in the occupied territories. As a result, Israeli territory is now expanding and Palestinian territory is shrinking.
In recent weeks, Craig Mokhiber, former director of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in New York, has also criticized the UN's inaction in the peace process. Moreover, the conflict between the two countries has been ongoing for decades.
The statement was issued during the fourth wave of exchanges of Israeli prisoners and imprisoned Palestinians. The prisoner exchange comes after the two countries agreed to a four-day ceasefire brokered by Qatar.
As part of the deal between Hamas and Israel, the Jewish side released 39 Palestinian prisoners from their jails on Sunday afternoon. Hamas also released prisoners abducted on October 7, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said that a series of Israeli attacks have killed at least 13,300 people, two-thirds of whom are women and children.
