Jokowi Inaugurates Nawawi Pomolango as KPK Interim Chairman

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Monday officially inaugurated Nawawi Pomolango as the interim chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the State Palace, Jakarta.
The President officially appointed Nawawi following the signing of Presidential Decree No. 116 of 2023 concerning the temporary dismissal of KPK Chairperson Firli Bahuri and the appointment of KPK Deputy Chairperson Nawawi Pomolango as KPK's Interim Chairperson on November 24, 2023.
"In the name of God, I solemnly pledge to carry out my duties without promising nor giving anything to anyone, be it directly or indirectly," Pomolango said in his oath before the Head of State in Jakarta on Monday.
Pomolango also vowed that in conducting his duties as the commission's interim chairperson, he will never accept anything nor any promises from anyone, be it directly or indirectly.
"I swear that I will be loyal to and will defend and apply the national ideology Pancasila as the foundation of the 1945 Constitution as well as the applicable laws and regulations in the Republic of Indonesia," he stated.
Furthermore, Pomolango pledged to carry out his tasks and wield the authority mandated in a serious, thorough, objective, honest, brave, and fair manner without discriminating against any positions, ethnicity, religions, races, genders, and groups.
In his oath, Pomolango also swore to make utmost efforts to fulfill his obligations, as his responsibility to God, the people, nation, and country.
"I swear that I will always reject any interference while relentlessly carrying out the duties and wielding the authority mandated by the law to me,"
Earlier, on November 22, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police named Firli Bahuri as suspect in the alleged extortion case against former agriculture minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Bahuri was named a suspect as intended in Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
