Jakarta – The Indonesian Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kemenkominfo) announced that it has blocked 3,104 mobile phone numbers from June to November 15, 2023. The numbers are indicated to be used for negative things based on complaints received from the aduannomor.id website.
Director of Control at the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology (DG PPI), Dany Swardany said that aduannomor.id is a website created by Kemenkominfo to accommodate complaints from the public if they are bothered by annoying phone numbers.
People who want to report these annoying numbers must first create an account, and then make a complaint accompanied by evidence in the form of screenshots or recorded conversations.
For the 3,104 numbers that have been blocked, Swardany said the number is an accumulation of complaints for online fraud numbers, online gambling promotion numbers, and voice phishing or SPAM advertising numbers.
"The reasons for blocking are various, some are due to online gambling promotions, some are due to credit fraud, and some are due to prize scams. More or less like that, but the fraud is through SMS and telephone,"Â he explained.Â
The blocked numbers are confirmed to be numbers with a code starting with (+62) issued by Indonesian telecommunications providers. The number of complaints from the public on unsettling numbers that have been received by the Ministry of Communication and Information during the period August - November 2023 is 958 complaints.
Responding to the many cases of online fraud that are busy on social media, the Ministry of Communication and Information urges the public to utilize the aduannomor.id complaint channel if they experience fraud through SMS or telephone.
Complaints submitted to aduannomor.id will certainly be resolved within 1x24 hours after the complainant makes a complaint accompanied by evidence on the site.Â
As for social media-based fraud complaints, the Ministry of Communication and Information also has a special channel, namely the aduankonten.id site.
