United States– The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with Chairman Exxon Mobil Corporation, Darren Woods at the APEC Summit, San Francisco, United States.
In the meeting, the United States oil major, Exxon Mobil is planning to invest up to $ 15 billion or IDR 232.5 trillion in Indonesia, the Head of State said.
"There are at least two projects that ExxonMobil will undertake through the investment, ranging from a green petrochemical complex to a carbon capture storage (CCS) facility," President Jokowi said on Thursday.
Therefore, the Head of State admitted that he was happy because the project to be undertaken by ExxonMobil was not a usual project. This is because of the International scale capacity of the project.
In addition, the President also said that the petrochemical to be built by ExxonMobil will be one of the most sophisticated in the world.
This is in line with the CCS facility that will also be built by ExxonMobil which will also be the largest in Southeast Asia.
"I'm so happy to hear that this CCS facility will be the largest in Southeast Asia, and Exxon's petrochemical complex will be one of the most advanced in the world," the President remarked.
Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said that there are two main projects that ExxonMobil will work on in Indonesia. Both are environmentally friendly petrochemical refinery projects and carbon capture storage (CCS) projects.
The foreign minister stated that the results of Jokowi's talks with Darren Woods agreed that ExxonMobil is committed to investing US$15 billion, or around IDR 232.5 trillion.
"This is a project that is being discussed, if this project can be implemented, the investment value will reach around US$15 billion. So, the president and Exxon Mobil have discussed this," the Minister concluded.
