Two Trans Sumatra Toll Roads Start Operating Without Tariffs

Sumatra – The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) announced the operation of two new sections on the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, namely the Indrapura-Lima Puluh Toll Road (15.6 Km) and the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura Toll Road (28.5 Km).
Public can pass through these two toll roads for free and only need to tap their electronic money cards at the toll gate.
"The operation of the two toll roads can be used by the public and remains free, but users are required to tap electronic money cards at the toll gate," BPJT said in a written statement on Wednesday.
In a statement on its official website, BPJT explained that the rules regarding the operation of the Indrapura-Lima Puluh toll road section are in PUPR Ministerial Decree Number 1401/KPTS/M/2023 concerning Determination of Operation of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road Section Indrapura-Lima Puluh.
Meanwhile, the rules for operating the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura section are in PUPR Ministerial Decree Number 1518/KPTS/M/2023 on October 25, 2023.
It contains the Determination of the Operation of the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road Section 1 Tebing Tinggi - Indrapura Junction and section 2 Indrapura Junction - Indrapura Interchange Segment.
BPJT ensured that the two new toll road sections had also previously been carried out a feasibility test (ULF), on August 22-25, 2023. Both were declared to have fulfill the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) with the issuance of a Certificate of Functioning (SLF).
Where the SLF for the Indrapura-Lima Puluh Toll Road was issued on September 8, 2023, while the SLO for the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura Toll Road was issued on September 19, 2023.
It's known, as part of Section 1 of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road, the Indrapura-Lima Puluh Toll Road will later connect the community, especially from the Medan area to Kisaran and its surroundings.
The Toll Road give some advantages, one is the speeds up travel time which is usually around 4 hours to only 2 hours.
While the Tebing Tinggi-Indrapura Toll Road, which is part of Section 1 of the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat (Kutepat) Toll Road, will also support access from Medan to the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP).
Moroever, public can speed up travel time, from the original 3.5 hours of travel to just 1.5 hours.
