VKTR, Pertamina NRE Cooperate to Accelerate Indonesian EV Transition

United States – Pertamina through Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (EBT) is collaborating with a subsidiary of the Bakrie Group, VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) to pioneer sustainable mobility solutions for public transportation in Indonesia.

This cooperation was formalized through the signing of a Letter of Interest (LoI) to the US International Development Finance Corporation (US DFC) in the United States. As one of the strategic efforts to achieve Indonesia's Net-Zero emission target by 2060.

The signing was also witnessed by VKTR President Commissioner Anindya Novyan Bakrie and Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati.

VKTR Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gilarsi W Setijono said that her company's expertise in public transportation electrification and renewable energy uniquely positions VKTR to lead transformative solutions in Indonesia.

"We are committed to facilitating a comprehensive electric vehicle infrastructure, transitioning from a capex to opex model, and making a major contribution to the Indonesian economy," Setijono said in a statement on Tuesday. 

On the same occasion, Pertamina NRE Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dannif Danusaputro, emphasized Pertamina NRE's dedication to achieving Net Zero Emission by 2060 or sooner.

Pertamina NRE is recognized as highly focused on decarbonizing challenging sectors, through low-carbon solutions, renewable energy development, and building future businesses that include electric vehicles, batteries, green hydrogen, and carbon businesses.

"We believe that this collaboration will accelerate our efforts," Danusaputro remarked. 

As information, this partnership aims to assist entities such as TransJakarta and IKN Ibu Kota Baru, in developing the necessary infrastructure for widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

The e-MaaS model is not limited to vehicles, as the project includes critical infrastructure such as charging stations and renewable energy sources, offering a holistic and cost-effective solution for major cities in Indonesia.

This collaborative effort through e-MaaS is poised to be implemented across various sectors to drive green transportation projects and electricity transformation. 

Its scalability also paves the way for expansion to other regions, thus fostering a robust and sustainable green transportation ecosystem.
