Government to Add Flights Ahead of Christmas, New Year

Jakarta – Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated that the government has added more flights and increased the availability of airplane seats ahead of the Christmas, and New Year holidays

"With the increase in the number of flights and the availability of seats, the supply will increase, therefore, we expect the price of flight tickets to be affordable in the Christmas and New Year holidays," the Minister explained on Sunday. 

"Several airlines such as Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Batik Air, Lion Air, Super Air Jet, and Air Asia have added more flights to anticipate the surge of passengers in the year-end holidays," Minister Uno continued.

The Minister mentioned: "New airlines such as Trans Nusa will also start serving tourists' favorite routes at the end of 2023 or 2024,"

According to Minister Uno, many travelers are expected to switch to land transportation because of the high price of airline tickets. 

80 percent of travelers during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays will use land transportation, the minister added.

"This is an opportunity for several destinations such as Yogyakarta, Bandung, Bromo, Tengger, Semeru, and along Java-Bali (route) because they can be reached by land," Minister Uno informed. 

The Minister is expecting an increase in the movement of domestic tourists during the holidays and hoped that the target of domestic tourist visits this year will be achieved.

"We also prepare destinations and travel patterns so that the year-end holidays will bring massive tourists,"
